Greetings, and thanks for visiting my website. I’m a writer and editor working mainly in areas of politics, history, law, science, and the arts. As of December 2017, I have joined the staff at Harvard University press, where I am a senior editor and copywriter. I was previously managing editor of Boston Review, a small-but-mighty political and literary magazine.
My writing has been published by the Washington Post, New Republic, Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor, American Prospect, Democracy Journal, Al Jazeera America, Los Angeles Review of Books, The Washington Spectator, and others. Please see the menu above for links to my stories and media appearances.
As a freelance developmental and and copy editor, I have worked primarily with authors of serious nonfiction published by academic and trade presses, scholarly journals, and magazines. See the Editorial Services link at the top for more information and a list of titles.
Get in touch by email: swaxman [at] gmail.com. I never cared for twitter and have largely abandoned it.
